1 person killed, suspect arrested in 'random' shooting spree at Las Vegas gas station

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) ― Authorities say a gunman opened fire in an apparently random shooting spree at a gas station in the south Las Vegas valley Thursday morning, killing one person.

The shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Robindale Road and Jones Boulevard, Lt. Ray Spencer with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.

Police believe the gunman robbed someone on the street, then approached a gas station at the intersection and opened fire on an unoccupied vehicle.

He fired at another car, in which a man was waiting for his girlfriend while she was inside the gas station convenience store, Spencer said. That man was struck by the gunfire and taken to UMC, where he was pronounced dead.

The gunman went inside the convenience store and started "randomly shooting" down an aisle and toward a customer standing near a cooler, according to Spencer. That person was able to duck and run out of the store while being chased by the suspect.

Other customers in the store were able to run out through a back door, while an employee hid inside of a cooler until the shooting was over, he said.

The gunman stole some items from the store and left. He was last seen walking eastbound on Robindale, and Spencer said there's a strong possibility he lives in the area east of the intersection of Robindale and Jones.

"With as many rounds that were fired randomly in the parking lot and … inside the convenience store, it's a disturbing incident and that is why we need him captured," Spencer said.

Investigators believe the gunman was wearing a tactical vest and gunbelt at the time.

Spencer described the shooting as a random incident based on the gunman's actions, but he declined to elaborate on what, if anything, was said at the scene.

A suspect, identified in arrest records as 22-year-old Jesus Uribe, was taken into custody later Thursday after what police described as a brief barricade in the south valley.

スペンサー氏は、「駐車場とコンビニエンスストア内で無差別に発射された多くの弾丸は、不穏当な事件であり、だからこそ彼を捕まえる必要がある」と語った。

捜査当局は、犯人がタクティカルベストとガンベルトを着用していたとみている。

スペンサー氏は、この銃撃事件について、犯人の行動から無差別に発生したものと説明しましたが、現場で何か言われたとしても、詳しくは述べませんでした。

逮捕記録によると、22歳のジーザス・ウリベと確認された容疑者は、警察が南の谷で短いバリケードを作ったと説明した後、木曜日の後半に身柄を拘束されました。
